INTRODUCTION
I am Ramlah Ibrahim, liaison librarian for European Studies. USM offers Master of International Studies with the specialization in European Studies at the School of Social Sciences. This online guide is created for students and academics of USM as a tool for better online navigation. Inter-Active Terminology for Europe (IATE) is the inter-institutional terminology database of the European Union. It is a web-based interface for all EU terminology resources so as to make the information more easily available and ensure its standardisation throughout the EU institutions. IATE incorporates all of the existing terminology databases of the EU’s translation services into one interinstitutional database containing approximately 1.4 million multilingual entries.

SocINDEX with Full Text is the world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. Council of the European Union

The Council is the main decision-making body of the European Union. It comprises of ministers of the member states. The Council passes laws, usually jointly with the European Parliament. It also coordinates economic policies and concludes international agreements.

The Commission is the institution that proposes legislation to the Parliament and the Council, administers and implements Community policies, enforces Community law together with the Court of Justice, and negotiates international agreements.
European Court of Auditors

This is the institution which audits and examines the accounts of the Union’s revenue and expenditure, and checks whether the financial management has been sound.

The Court of Justice makes sure that the EU legislation is interpreted and applied across EU countries. It is composed of 25 judges and eight Advocates General. The Judges and Advocates General are appointed by common accord by the governments of the Member States for a renewable term of six years.

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) is an advisory body composed of representatives of Europe’s regional and local authorities.
