Members of the USM Alumni Association are entitled to complimentary access to the USM Library. To gain entry, they must present their valid membership card, either in physical or electronic form, to the staff on duty. This benefit exempts them from the Pay Per Visit fee.
Access is strictly limited to on-site use of library collections. Alumni members are not eligible for additional library services, such as borrowing, rental, etc.
USM Alumni who wish to utilize other library services must register for USM Library Alumni Membership, which requires payment of a prescribed fee.

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Library is an Academic Library. Membership only consists of staff and registered students. The USM library also offers LIMITED membership and library use for a fee to the surrounding community who want to using Library information resources for research, professional and career purposes. The Library Collection is a special collection and relevant to the study program at the University in accordance in supporting teaching and learning activities and University research and consultancy.

Application letter should be addressed to Chief Librarian by giving details personal together with documents:
Applicants are required to pay a fee service and registration after application to become a member is approved by Library.
Payment of fees is on an annual basis and all payments must be made at the Department USM Treasurer during office hours or online via https://epayment.usm.my.
Receipt of payment should be submitted to Library for processing purposes membership card.

LOAN RENEWAL
Material loan renewal that has not passed the return date can be renewed for ONE time only through:
Loan renewals are not allowed if the borrowed material has booked by another member.
*The USM library reserves the right to request that borrowed materials be returned at any time even before the return date.

The Kelburn and Pipitea Libraries have rooms that are specially designed with accessibility in mind. If you require access to these rooms please contact Disability Services.
The Access Suite at Kelburn is designed specifically for students with disabilities. The Access Suite has a rest space equipped with a bed and a reclining chair. The main room has study tables, a photocopier, ergonomic furniture and equipment, and student computing workstations. There is also a separate adaptive technology room.
The Commerce Library has an access suite on the ground floor of Rutherford House, with computing workstations, adaptive technology and space for quiet study and rest.
Accessible toilets are located in the Kelburn Library on levels 1, 2, 3 and 5; in the student common room adjacent to the Law Library; and on the ground floors of the Architecture and Design Campus (Vivian Street) and Commerce (Rutherford House).
